Quality stems from knowledge and experience

Training is a constant in our organisation. Acquiring, updating, expanding, deepening and sharing knowledge and experience in all directions and across the organisation forms the basis of the training and professional development programme for the workforce at ICT FILTRATION.

Highlights of the most recent in-company training include four courses, in addition to the ongoing English classes. The first concerns the sphere of technical knowledge. Given by Pere Puigbó, a technical engineer with a long career in the world of filtration and pneumatic conveyance. Under the title “Extraction and filtration of industrial pollutants”, the material included advanced knowledge of fluid mechanics and air circulation, going into technical and operational aspects of fans, and considered the different filtration systems (dust collection, liquid filtering, fume filtering, etc.).
The second training measure in this first quarter was run by Isabel Pastor, Quality Manager at ICT FILTRATION. She presented the changes, adaptations and improvements that have been introduced in recent months in the system and monitoring of production, as well as implementation of the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 standard under which we were recently certified by Aenor, the quality management system for the design, development and production of filter bags, fabrics, pockets and other textile items for purging and filtering dust and liquids in industry; the repair service for textile filter elements; marketing elements and accessories for industrial filtration.
The third training measure consisted of finding out in depth about the operation and features of Pentair Mecair-Goyen products, including their latest additions. This technical training in the Mecair-Goyen products marketed exclusively by ICT FILTRATION in Spain and Portugal was given by Tanya Bahdanovich, of the ICT FILTRATION Purchasing Department and our specialist in this American firm’s range of products, accessories and spare parts.
The fourth training measure in the first quarter of 2018 was about digital marketing. Our head of marketing and communication, Lluís Lleida, outlined the basics of digital marketing strategies and techniques to the technical and commercial department, together with the updates ICT FILTRATION is rolling out in this area.
In addition to this in-company training, ICT FILTRATION personnel regularly attend other training given externally, on a range of highly specialised subjects, such as computer-assisted design, implementing quality certificates and quality management systems.

The Purchasing Department, an increasingly important part of a business

It might seem less important in comparison with sales, marketing, production or R&D, but the Purchasing Department has the same decisive impact as the rest in any company’s operations and profits. The professionals in Purchasing have a complex role, not always without tensions resulting from inside and outside the organisation in which they work.

Most firms have a purchasing department. A department that provides its own organisation with a service based on procuring the materials necessary for production or day-to-day operations; assessing and negotiating prices to maximise revenue and assure supplies without sacrificing the quality required or the deadlines stipulated; finding and selecting new suppliers and materials as a result of targets for improvement or new needs; monitoring and assessment of suppliers; compliance with quality policies and commercial agreements already negotiated and signed.

A difficult balance
People with responsibilities in Purchasing have the job of finding the ideal balance to meet generally divergent needs arising within their own organisation. On the one hand, technical, operational and functional needs. On the other, economic needs. The aim is to buy the best product, material or service at the lowest price. And it is this short, simple “rule” that makes managing purchasing a tremendously complex task: technical requirements rule, but economic strictures often rule even more.
And as if this were not enough, Purchasing must take into account the who and how of the firm that makes an offer. This means the robustness and reliability of the supplier also determine the success of the Purchasing role. In fact, the confidence inspired by a supplier is often a deciding factor in choosing their offer. Even more than the strictly financial side of the offer.

Cheap can be costly
Experience lends credence to the idea that what seems cheap in fact proves more costly. Purchasing professionals are well aware of this, so above financial terms they generally recognise, value and defend a supplier’s commitment, seriousness, professionalism, ability to solve problems, financial robustness and support or assistance, among other factors that are not always easy to put a price on.
Without detracting from the importance of the initial technical and financial terms, those in the Purchasing Department pay increasing attention to these parallel aspects of purchasing. This is why the professional level in this department is getting higher, more specialised and of more strategic importance to firms. The purchaser, especially in industry, is increasingly important.

Quality guarantee: UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 certified by Aenor

IQNet and Aenor have certified that ICT FILTRACIÓN, S.L. has a quality management system in accordance with the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 standard. The award of this certificate, with registration number ES-0289/2000, valid until February 2021, guarantees our organisation’s focus on a job well done and sets us apart from mere promises or good intentions.

The certificate covers the following activities: design, development and production of filter bags, fabrics, pockets and other textile items for purging and filtering dust and liquids in industry. Repair service for textile filter elements. Marketing industrial filtration elements and accessories.
The UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 certificate proves that ICT FILTRATION offers the maximum guarantees of quality and traceability in its processes, products and customer services. As well as its own processes and other matters, this calls for the cooperation of approved suppliers, for which reason we have a methodology for ongoing assessment of our suppliers’ performance.
This methodology is taken as a reference by the Purchasing Department in selecting our suppliers and carrying out ongoing assessment of their performance. Moreover, it means we can take the necessary steps to ensure constant improvement.
The assessment criteria include the quality of the product delivered, any interruptions caused at our customers’ plants, meeting delivery dates and the number of incidents in special transport.
Our management systems require our suppliers to hold UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 certification.
